Legendary French bistro Le Select is reopening in Toronto this month

Another iconic Toronto establishment is being resurrected, thanks to restaurateur David Aisenstat. On June 24, Le Sélect Bistro will officially re-open to the public, offering its beloved Parisian-style traditions to the city again.

“Le Sélect has been a go-to for Torontonians who love a great meal and special ambience,” Aisenstat said in a press release. “It is the site of countless dates, business meetings, celebrations, and friendly gatherings for so many people, and has always been one of my favourite restaurants. It seems like everyone has a  special memory from Le Sélect. So, when the opportunity arose to re-kindle the amazing spirit that its  founders cultivated over its nearly 50-year history, I knew it was a rare opportunity.”

Many of Le Sélect’s decor fixtures will stay the same, from its classic zinc bar and vintage posters to the moody art deco fixtures and mosaic floors. The traditional French menu will also offer some of the popular dishes from the previous iterations of the restaurant, like escargots de Bourgogne, coquielle st-jacques, cassoulet, moules frites and truite meunière, as well as the famous plat du jour that drew in guests for years. But, the culinary team, helmed by corporate executive chef Ted Corrado and head chef Zachary Barnes will also introduce new classics to the longstanding menus.

Of course, the bistro will also bring back its cornerstone wine menu, with over 1200 bottles from vintage labels to Beaujolais and everything else a wine lover or casual drinker would desire.

Le Sélect Bistro will reopen to the public on June 24, 2022, for both lunch and dinner, at 432 Wellington St. W.
